my 1972 110 rebuild story

So im going to give you the back story on this little gt then bring you up to the present. So about a year ago i was at work one day when a friend told me he had a little jd that needed some work that he wanted to sell, i had recieved a few pics of it. The orignal plan for it was a back up plow tractor an a trailer mover in the summer an to give my daughter rides on until she is old enough to drive it. Being this is for my daughter i planned on a patio paint scheme but going purple an white. Fast forward to oct of last year an my daughter who wasnt quite 1 yr old yet had a seizure then again a couple days ago so we had the eeg an mri done, an the wait began till our doc apt in jan after we explained to her doctor how she stared off into space (zoned out) for a few min at a time an rapid eye blinking randomly. He then explained that those were seizures not all siezures an convolsuive. Ive had epilepsy since i was about 22 an now my daughter who is just over a year old has it too we are both on the same medication diferent dosages though. So that being told the color for epilespy awarness is purple so this little run of the mill 8 hp 110 will be a purple patio an im going to ghost in the ribbon on the hood an on the back of the seat. Ill be uploading pics of the 110 once im on my laptop since most of them are on my phone. If anyone can help me source the decal kits an a rebuild kit for the k181 8hp kohler since it smokes bad, also where would i find a replacment muffler for it?

Local JD supplier should be able to help with the parts. Then there is HAPCO who also has everything you'll need , EBAY is always an option.

Very sorry to hear about the suffering you and your family have been through. It sounds like that 110 will be very special to you and the family when its completed . Good luck with the restoration

Hey Greg, the patio hood decals and number series decals can be found on Hapco Part's website. The remaining decals are also available there, however won't be listed under the patio section. Just go to the decal sets and you should find what you're looking for. Hapco also has rebuild items such as pistons, rods, gaskets, and rings. Pretty much a one stop shop if you're interested.

As for the muffler, I'd say you'll just have to keep an out on eBay, if Deere doesn't have them available anymore.

Good Luck and we're looking forward to your thread!

"As for the muffler, I'd say you'll just have to keep an out on eBay, if Deere doesn't have them available anymore. ".           The JD online parts catalog lists the same muffler for your 72 model as the 68-71 models. Part number AM31617, still available for $85.21. Although it is expensive it fits and is identical to the one that came from the factory. I bought one for my 1970 110 and am very pleased with it. It gives the little K181 a mellow tone. If you haven't already done this you can access the parts catalogs online at JD parts . com. It is a valuable resource for locating parts as well as showing how it all goes together. There are serial number breaks in the listings and your tractor is in the 250001 up group being a 72.  HTHs.  J.

A few pics of my 74 112 . I was lucky and started with a very good condition unit that I found locally. I was planning on using it to plow my driveway and retire the RF to be restored but I got a little carried away.   Thought I share them with you. It's all rattle can JD paint. It now has the correct seat on it as a RF I purchased  had an original perfect condition seat that I cleaned up and installed.

That looks great were getting snow now an it's forecasted to be in the single digits this weekend so anymore progress is put on hold till it warms up.a little an my head cold is gone. I do have a few friends helping me to locate someone to re upholster the seat hopefully that won't blow my paint budget.

Completely understand that!! The cold and snow have halted production on my 208 restoration as well. For my seat I found an original style cover to put on the original metal seat pan. It was still $145.00. TSC does have some cheaper seats that work until something better shows up. HAPCO was taking orders but that is still expensive.
