Does it need it? Have you run it? If it’s closed up and not been open to the weather you should be ok. You could put some sea foam in it and run it then change the oil. Not sure what your thinking in flushing it out.

It just has been setting for some time. The oil is very black and thick.

Get her running put a little Marvel Mystery oil or the Sea Foam in it before you change the oil or with new oil then run it for a little and do another oil change. It may be fine if the gas does not have the carb all gummed up.
Typically new points, spark plug condenser and a carb cleaning they spring to life.
