So my wife got a phone call yesterday form her uncle asking if she wanted her grandfathers old Ford 100 garden tractor an of course she did so starting tonight were going to be starting on it since its still on the trailer it did come with a snowplow though. I'll try to post up pictures later as they are on my phone an i talked to a member on another forum an i have to make a trip to his house to pick up some correct parts for it.

Yes it is Don I think the motor is part fogger though I doubt I have any bug left in the neighborhood.

That's right! And --- ok, the FORD is an old family member, BUT --- my wife has a Ford as business car and it was the first and the last Ford we will have for ever...

The 590i will be a nice business car, too

Well today I decided to drain the old gear oil out an see how bad it was, an well I got the drain pan under it pulled the plug an first thing out in the drain pan was about an inch of water then this tar looking stuff came out in chunks an clumps. I added some motor oil spun the axle an more crud appeared opened up the other drain an hosed it with carb cleaner. Another spin an more sludge so I've left it open for tonight to see what else drains out.

Fill it up with diesel fuel or kerosene and spin it around then drain refill and let it soak for awhile.

That sounds like a great plan but I'll have 2 spares trans for this once the deal is sealed then just have to make plans to get them an some other stuff from him. Nor do infant the smell of diesel lingering in my garage all winter.

Well here's two pictures of the oil the first is from yesterday the second I just took a few minutes ago. Its still dripping so maybe later I'll plug it n add some motor oil an spin it gears a little bit before I let it set over night an spin it more tomorrow before draining it.

Never had one that bad. Like Don said Kero works good for swirling around and washing it out . Bet the smell is just awesome!!!!

I doubt I'll use this rear for the rebuild might be a good canidet for a tear down an clean-up so there is a spare for the Ford an the other by I'm getting that this will bolt into.
