So I’ve had this 345 for maybe 3 years now and it’s been sitting for close to two. Rear end had a leak. Took it apart and resealed it but while it was out the forward/reverse arm on top got broken (see pic) fixed that as I couldn’t find a replacement and out it back in. Fixed some old fuel lines and got it fired up again. Here’s my problems…and questions. When I push the forward pedal it goes forward and the pedal returns. When I push the reverse it will maybe creep but the pedal won’t return. The “shock”’that goes on the hydro arm, should that always center itself if I have it in hand and push/pull it as it would when the pedals move it. Should there be a return spring somewhere on the reverse pedal? I’m finally close to using it again and now I’m stuck…

Welcome to JDFANATICS!!
Your 345 is newer then any that I have so I am just guessing here. I would think that the shock is for smooth steady resistance as an aid for operating the tractor, similar to the one on my 400.
John Deere has a parts website where you can see parts diagrams for your tractor. I have used it a bunch.

I appreciate that thanks! I primarily play with old deeres (I even have my grandpas old model A from the farm and numerous old garden tractors) but this one’s stumping me. I’ve seen the diagrams but they don’t tell me enough or clear enough anyway. Same with that cylinder, I was hoping someone could verify if it has return pressure both directions but k don’t seem to be having much luck that way. I look forward to more info as I dig into my other old tractors…a 67 round fender, a patio rolling frame and other cool stuff.
