i recently picked up a late 314, serial # 222xxx (1983), it has a mesh grill in it but is missing the frame that the mesh would have fit in. Did any of the 314's ever have a mesh grill? I suspect it's wrong.

As far as I know, and don't hold me to this, but I'm pretty sure all of the 300 series tractors had open grilles with vertically mounted bars and a top center mounted medallion with the two-legged deer. I don't think there was any mesh in the grille at all. Can you post a picture of what you have so that we can see what you have to be sure?

You are correct Troy. If they go to TractorData.com or google John Deere 314 pics that show the vertical toothed grill . No mesh
