I have a 210 that I know for a fact was bought in july of 1977 but the serial number says its the 168th 1978 210. do I call it a 1978 like what the serial number says it is ir do I call it a 77 like what the paper work says it is?

I would call it a 1978 since that is what the serial number indicates. Yearly builds did not start on January 1 and end on December 31. Builds typically started in July. So you have any early model, likely built during the first week of 1978 production.
