Hello All!
We have a tractor that is burning oil, and seems to lack the power of its youth. I think the old K321 is pretty tired, rings maybe? Found a complete K321 from a 214 that the gent I bought it from said sounded strong, so he did not scrap it. He was saving it to install in a 140 if he could find a decent one cheap enough, and I had a good vibe from him. I digress, I know I'll have to remove the front "shroud" and install the driveshaft to the flywheel, which Should be doable with the old parts. I plan on using the old motor mounts if possible, hopefully they line up with the block, if not there will be some fabrication involved. Any input would certainly be appreciated! Any of you folks done something of this ilk before? I'm relatively handy, but certainly do NOT claim to know a great deal about old tractors!!!! We picked up an LT 160 for $400 to continue the season, so all is not lost! This will be a late fall, winter project I'm thinking, as there is much to do in the interim. I very much appreciate any and all information that you are willing to share! Once again, Thanks.

I love the 314, I just finished my project, my Kohler was still strong so I let it be. Did a bunch of cosmetics though. Good luck!

does it also spit out smoke?
check to ensure the crank case is not overfilled with oil, carburetor float/ fuel shut off solenoid may have stuck allowing gas into engine overfilling engine oil, if this is the case fix carb. and change oil/drain thoroughly and fill using fresh proper grade oil, before starting again. There are a lot more reasons for engine to smoke this is one of the common ones along with blown head gasket.

See links below for other causes and fixes.
